Twas a bitterly cold day, but the wind was drying the track out nicely as the proceedings kicked off @ SAFE ACCESS HIGHLANDS ROUND ONE of the ADULT SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIP hosted by ABERDEEN & DISTRICT MOTOX CLUB.

Great invention these transponder thingy's, as lapscoring could have been a bit tricky with the claggy consistancy of the dubs in question, definitely the way to go. check out www.mylaps.com if u want to study laptimes.

As the gate dropped for Q1, it was Craig Trew who stormed to the top of the leader board, with an unbeatable lap time of 1 59 355, never to be beaton by anyone else throughout the day, only he himself managed 2 equal this pheonominal time during the second championship race. Trailing Craig by only 1.357 seconds was Neil Flockhart, with Ross Rutherford another second and a half down.

Q2 saw John Souter, Peter Mitchell and Sean Macdonald of the pace by 2.5 to 6 seconds, work 2do lads.

Q3 saw Stuart Flockhart pull out the stops , running a mere 1.7 seconds down on Craig Trew from Q1.
Second fastest in Q3 was Ricky Mair on his Safe Access Honda with Scott Findlay in third.

The stage was set for some fantastic racing, a big thanku to those workers @ Abd & District Club who put in that extra effort rerouting the track on the saturday to provide a top notch circuit for the Scottish Championship Opening Round.

Hats off to the supporting schoolboy riders, especialy the small wheeled machines, as this was a demanding Adult Championship Circuit, well done those lads n lassies on completing their qualifying sessions.

The Groups were now decided and the Adult contendors for the Safe Access Highland Scottish Championship Rnd 1 were lining up at the start gate, tension was rising....and they're off, with three 450 Honda's at the front, Neil F leading, Craig T in second with Bobby Gold in third.  By the end of lap 1, Craig Trew had taken the lead , a position he was to hold until the final lap when hard charging Stuart Flockhart grabbed the front spot and took race 1 maximum points to start off his defence of his title as he means to continue. Third spot went to Neil Flockhart with Bobby Gold finishing 4th, only dropping one place in the whole race.  Graham Riley showed excellent pace , coming from 20th on lap 1 to finish in 7th spot, well done that man.

Onto Champ Race 2, Riders were rested and the track has dryed out a bit giving well defined lines, the club had formed a few new jumps on the circuit which gave the enthuisiastic spectaters some very interesting entertainment, especially during the opening laps and with some of the overtaking manovers carried out during full flight.

The gate drops with Craig T taking the lead closely followed by Neil F , Scott Murray and Jamie Duncan. By lap 2 Stuart F who had started in 6th place was now up to third and applying pressure to brother Neil, 2 laps later and he was past, now setting his sights on Craig Trew, by lap 7 he was in the lead and held it through to the finish, well done Stuart, 2 down 1 to go.

Bobby Gold started in 31st place , but by the end of lap 1  was up to 18th and climbing fast, lap 3 up 2 13th, unlucky for some, Bobby disappeared of the radar for a DNF. Graham Riley got a better start in 10th place climbing steadily to finish in 4th position, this man could be worth the watching. Ricky Mair pulled out the stops in race 2, going from 14th on the first lap up to 4th by lap 3, holding this position until lap 6, then dropping one place to finish in 5th. Tommy Fenwick started of in 29th position but kept pushing hard, climbing up the leader board to finish in 13th. Pete Mitchell came off in the first corner leaving him dead last, not to be outdone, Pete got on with the job in hand and clawed his way back up to 21st to gain some usefull pointers.

The stage was set, Was this going to be a clean sweep for Mr Flockhart ?

The support racers did their bit, giving the championship contendors a well earned break.

However, it was not long before it was time for Race Three of the opening round of the Safe Access Highland Scottish Motocross Championship of 2007, the stage was set,,,,,,,,,and they're off,,,,,,,,
with Craig Trew grabbing the lead from Neil Flockhart with Stuart Flockhart in third.
Craig this time had the bit between his teeth and held the lead from start to finish with Stuart F chasing him over the line for 2nd place, but an overall win.

Neil F however struggled with the wet conditions during the second half of the final race, dropping to 5th place. Guess what ?, starting out in 22nd place, superfit, superpace, its that man Graham Riley again. up to 3rd place at the chequered flag, closely followed by Ross Rutherford who having got past Graham on the opening lap, had to give way to him on lap 4 and follow him thru to take a top 4 finish, well done lads.

Race three saw young Ricky Mair come to grief in the first corner, but this did not deter ricky, he was up and at em and by lap 3 had regained 12 th spot, but alas, this was not 2 bee, as ricky collected a Dnf.  Still Ricky, there's always next time. Kyle Mackie, did well in race three to come from 38th spot up to a points scoring final position of 14th, no mean feat.

Summery: Top Spot to Stuart Flockhart with Craig Trew close behind, Neil Flockhart in third with that man Graham Riley in fourth, sort out those starts Graham and u jist never know !!!!!!!!

The next battle of the giants of Scottish Motocross is set to take place at Elgin on April the 1ST hosted by Grampian MCC, definitely worth a visit for any and all motorsport enthuisiasts.

The Support races at Rhynie were all very closely contested, especially in the B Group adults where large groups of riders were constantly changing places as they vied for position on the demanding circuit. wWith eventual winner Scott Gordon coming out on top with a 1st a 2nd and 3rd placings.

C Group went to young Lee Shephard on that very fast KTM125, well done , A group for U next Year young man.

In the schoolpersons 125 class, it was total domination for Ryan Blair with 3 race wins on his Suzuki 250, with consistant Fraser Norrie taking 2nd overall.

The 85 b/w class crown went to Aidan Bruce with Top Girl rider Hannah Mcleod in second place.

The 85 s/w class saw Lossiemouth Loon, Josh Craig take the honours, followed closely by Ian Stewart with Grant Fraser close behind that.
