Action from the Scottish Quad Championships at Duns - pictures by John McDevitt

Ouch! thats bound to hurt!

Leon Beda wins the 2005 Polaris Britain Scottish SACU Quad Championships

Although Leon was currently leading the championships the  two day header at the extremely fast with massive air time, coupled with a very tricky technical whoops section track in the border town of Duns was very important because he could wrap up the 2005 series. So reliability from the 2004 Ype/micron powered Yamaha yfz450 quad was needed more than ever. We also knew that top British riders was also entered and could in effect alter the overall results. Sunshine greeted the big entry of quad riders on the Sat 3rd of Sept.

Race 1. Who was going to 'holeshot' the first championship race of the 2 day'r? It was the awesome Lindsay Duke aboard his 'American Baldwin motorsport tuned 450 Honda  Followed by Leon Beda then Wullie Waggot on his Kik atv Honda 450. Leon went into the lead inlap 2 and pulled a comfortable lead to win moto 1.

Race 2. Leon holeshots  with duke and waggot hot on his heels, the whoop section was where time could be made up so leon had to try and double, double and double the 8 whoop section to pull a gap, which he did and win number 2.

Race 3. Leon fires from the start gate with the top British guys again not giving him a chance to make any mistakes on this mega fast track, but skill and determination from leon kept the Big boys behind so on to race win 3.

With day one gone with 3 wins the Polaris Britain Scottish number one plate was getting closer but the awesome top British Atv World/ par homes backed Honda rider Ricky Tordoff was booked into Sunday's Racing. The spectators and supporters knew they were in for a treat of fast skilled mega day's racing. Who would be brave enough to put bets on that Leon could keep the mighty tordoff behind him....

Race 1 on the Sunday Leon fires out the gates faster than a speeding 'bullet' to take yet another holeshot, where was Tordoff?
He had not quite got the start that he'd hoped for and had to work hard to get up to the mighty battle that was going on between waggot and Duke. Whilst Leon extended his commanding lead but never letting up because he knew that one mistake he could make would undoubtly let the big boys in with a chance. But he held on to it and onto race win 1 for the start of Sunday.

Race 2 saw leon yet again fire his Micron ype power yam fire into the lead but Ricky was determine not to give Leon an easy time and was catching him very quickly and the whoop section played an important role because Ricky had mastered this section, but just before this section there were several big table tops and technical corners where Ricky got mixed up with back lappers and bolted of the track to avoid hitting them. This gave leon the space to cruise home for race win number 5.

Last race of the day the spectators, riders from the other support classes were out to watch the battle of the mighty and yes they were in store for a a big battle and yes, treated they were, with awesome display of grit, determination excellent riding skills from all the riders but it was Leon that lead from gate to flag with tordoff snapping at his heels all the way. So a first overall gave the seventeen year old his first National win aboard his Micron ype power yfz450.A first also for Micron who has backed this young rider this season to prove that their new exhaust is a WINNER.Also young Jamie McCann wrapped up the 50cc class with a clean sweep like Leon.
