GLENROTHES YOUTH MOTOCROSS CLUB
LEUCHARS HOSTS MMX WITH TOP BRITISH STARS
Some of Britain’s top motocross stars, on two and four wheels, will be descending on Leuchars this sunday when the Glenrothes Youth Motocross Club play host to the British MMX Motocross Championship on the August 2009.
The top British and European quad motocross racers will be battling for honours in the British Quad Championship, with the two wheeled competitors challenging for the British Open Championship and the stars of tomorrow battle it out in the British MMX Under 21 Championship. All of this on the dramatic Comerton Farm track, which has recently been worked on by legendary track designer Johnny Douglas Hamilton.
Race fans will be treated to some very exciting racing and have plenty to cheer as there is a good possibility of seeing several local racers hoping that home advantage will see them onto the Championship podium this season and a large portion of the Championship points on offer.
BRITISH MMX QUAD CHAMPIONSHIP
John Mitchell, Stornoway: Unfortunately, former European and British Champion Mitchell has had a season to forget after taking a double victory at Round 1 in Suffolk, a 3rd place in the first race of Round 2 at Duns, Berwickshire, but then crashed out in the second race and his injuries forced him to miss the next 3 Rounds. Finally, returning to the action at the previous Round in Cumbria where he recorded a 14th in the first and a 4th place in the second race. He will certainly welcome the support of the home fans as he bids to get himself back on the podium.
Leon Beda, Coaltown: Currently lying 4th in the Championship standings, Beda has scored consistently in ten of the twelve races held so far, including three 4th places, Leon will be hoping local knowledge and support will help him to his first podium finish of the season.
In addition to these racers who have registered for the Series there will be plenty of other local/Scottish motocrossers who, whilst the Championship is this side of the border, will be checking their speed against the regular stars, possibly with a view to entering the full Championship next year.
Admission is £5 Adults, Under 15s Free, with Practice beginning at 0930hrs, with the first race due to start at Midday. The track is situated at Comerton Farm, postcode KY16 0DP.
