YOUTHMXSCOTLAND
BYMX News

There were mixed weather and mixed fortunes for the BYMX National boys at round three, Brampton this weekend.

Whoever thinks that Scottish motocross is in crisis obviously has not taken into account the talent and success being enjoyed by some of our best youth riders at the moment. Not only did all our National riders do us proud but there was a big contingent of support riders who dominated their classes too.Colin Smith #11 in action at Brampton

In all the classes they made their presence known to the opposition and in Matthew Flemings case, in the SW 85cc class, trounced them once again. Simply in a class of his own he won by a huge gap in three races from four, and a mistake in race two saw him come back to third. He took the overall and extended his championship lead.

Ewan McLaren was in top form in the BW 85cc class leading race three for most of the time before being overhauled by Sam Davis. Unfortunately a siezed engine on the line in the first race meant he  finished 11th, but definitely more successes to come from Ewan. Mark Perfect had a fantastic run throughout the weekend, with a fine 15th overall, and Steven Craig had a few spills but still well inside the top 20 at 17th. Colin Smith had a frustrating weekend, coming home 33rd.

The lads in the premier 250f class were outstanding! Tommy Fenwick was absolutely flying! Unfortunately for Tommy though, whilst battling for the lead in races 1 and 4 he ended up in the dirt, the one in race 4 being a sore one, but thankfully he is going to be OK. However, he won convincingly in race two getting all his supporters into a nervous frenzy untill the chequered flag finally went up! Then followed it with second in race three. Well done Tommy! Despite dnf-ing race four with his bad fall, he still held onto 9th overall. Sean MacDonald was also riding superbly and had a consistently quick weekend to take 8th overall just ahead of Tommy. Ryan Blair had better fortunes than the last round having got his supension sorted taking 18th overall in this massively competetive class. Colin McLuckie rounded off the top 20.

Fraser Pohlen had an unlucky weekend with clutch problems and a dnf in race three of the 65cc class, coming home 25th, whilst Robert Smith, despite dropping it in three out of four races had his best  result to date with 19th overall.

Next off they head to Pontrilas on the Welsh Border in three weeks for round 4.
